That shift turns on one piece of work. Every month, CCH Axcess exports a multi-client WIP, and before any of it becomes an invoice a partner or billing manager reads every line to pull the out-of-scope and advisory work out of the in-scope engagement. It is the split a fixed-fee model runs on, and today a person does it by hand. It is slow and it under-captures.

Billswarm reads the WIP export and separates every line into in-scope, out-of-scope, and advisory, tallying each. We do the sort and the partner keeps every decision, so the firm can fix-price the engagement and bill the extras on top.

We are working with one design-partner CPA firm on CCH Axcess and are opening conversations with a small number of Axcess shops. For year one we serve CCH Axcess firms only, so every deployment starts from an export format and a service-code vocabulary we already know.

This is a guided engagement. We deploy the application into your firm’s own cloud and network, which you own and we keep improving. We set up your taxonomy by hand with your billing partner and walk your firm off hourly billing one engagement type at a time. We earn the contract on the first month of real data, under NDA, before you sign a services agreement.

Billswarm is built by its founder, whose background is in product engineering and applied ML, working closely with practicing CPAs. We built it because the move to fixed-fee pricing was stuck on a manual WIP sort no tool was doing. Billswarm proposes the split and the billing partner decides where each line belongs, with every decision logged. The audit trail is as much the product as the split.

We are deliberately small and will hire when there is a reason to, and not before.
