Every month, CCH Axcess exports a multi-client WIP, and before any of it becomes an invoice a partner or billing manager reads every line to pull the out-of-scope and advisory work out of the in-scope engagement. It is the split a fixed-rate model runs on, and today it is entirely manual: slow, and easy to under-capture.

Billswarm reads the WIP export and separates every line into in-scope, out-of-scope, and advisory, tallying each. We are not here to replace the partner. We do the sort, so the firm can fix-price the engagement, bill the extras on top, and close the WIP in minutes instead of hours.

We are working with one design-partner CPA firm on CCH Axcess and are opening conversations with a small number of Axcess shops. The year-one thesis is to serve CCH Axcess firms only, not every firm generically, because that focus is the moat.

This is deliberately a guided engagement, not a self-serve tool. We deploy the application into your firm’s own AWS environment — you own the deployment, we keep it improving — set up your taxonomy by hand with your billing partner, and walk your firm off hourly billing one engagement type at a time. We earn the contract on the first month of real data before any of it touches paper.

Billswarm is built by a small team with a background in product engineering and applied ML, working closely with practicing CPAs. We built it because the move to fixed-rate pricing was stuck on a manual WIP sort no tool was doing. Billswarm proposes the split, the billing partner decides where each line belongs, and every decision is logged. The audit trail is as much the product as the split is.

We are deliberately small and will hire when there is a reason to, and not before.
